Island Shores Day Camp Program

Campers are grouped by grade and then our groups are split into junior camp and senior camp. This ensures that campers are in age appropriate swim sessions, lunch periods, sports, the arts and anywhere else it makes sense. The entire camp comes together for morning and afternoon announcements and any camp-wide special events. Campers entering kindergarten through 5th grade are in our junior camp, while campers entering 6th grade and above are part of our senior camp.

CIT Program

We also have a Counselor in Training (CIT) program for students entering 10th grade. CITs are considered campers but have a significantly reduced tuition. Our goal is to have them assigned to a group under the supervision of a senior counselor and then have them graduate into a paid junior counselor the following summer.

ACTIVITIES

Swim & Water Activities | Kids Swimming in Pool

Aquatics

Swim and water activities are central to the Island Shores camper experience. Morning swim is dedicated to swim instruction by age and level. All campers are tested on their first day in the pool with us and are assigned a swim level. Our goal is to develop independent swimmers of all ages.

In addition to instructional swim, campers enjoy recreational swim in the afternoons. Campers continue to be divided by age and swim level at all times.

All of our water activities are overseen by certified lifeguards and Water Safety Instructors (WSIs).

Waterfront

With the Long Island sound at our feet, kayaking and paddle boarding are another all-time favorite! With safety as our priority, we only allow campers of certain ages and swim levels out on the waterfront. It’s a great incentive for those campers who are not quite ready yet!

Our younger campers (and some of the older ones) also love sprinkler time, water slides and water table games.

All of our water activities are overseen by certified lifeguards and Water Safety Instructors (WSIs).
