About Island Shores

Island Shores Commitment

At the heart of Island Shores is a collective commitment to providing children with space and guidance to be the best versions of themselves. We believe that summer camp presents an opportunity for children to decompress, laugh, smile, build confidence, make friends and be celebrated. Our philosophy is rooted in building self esteem through play, self expression, teaming and exploration. In a world that is noisy and hectic, Island Shores is a place where children can come to be in the beautiful outdoors where they can hear themselves think, make new friends and enjoy being kids!

We welcome the partnership between your family and our camp family. We are always interested in hearing from parents so that we know exactly what your child needs. We are committed to continuous improvement and know that the best results come from open communication. We have an open door policy and want to hear from you!

Our Facilities

One of the best things about Island Shores is our campus. Located on the Knox School campus, there is a sense of serenity that takes over as you turn in and see the expansive green and backdrop of the Long Island Sound.

Bus Transportation

Bus transportation is available to all of our campers. For those who live in neighboring towns, we offer door-to-door bus transportation. For those who live in eastern or western Suffolk County and Nassau County, we offer central pick-up and drop off. This means that there will be a dedicated place (e.g., park and ride, church, etc.) where your camper will meet the bus each morning. You will pick your camper up at that same location at the end of the day.

Bus Transportation
For families that live further away, we have found central bus transportation to be a tremendous benefit for the following reasons:

Significantly shorter bus ride for campers who live further east or west of our campus.

No extra waiting time, as you drop your camper off and the bus counselors are ready for them.

Pick up is easily predictable. Campers are tired at the end of the day, and they get home earlier with central pick-up.

Before/After Care

Island Shores offer before and after care from 8:00–9:00 a.m. and 4:00–5:00 p.m. The fee is $12 per hour or $20 for both morning and afternoon combined. Parents can choose to have their camper(s) participate as often or as little as they need it.

Please note that campers in before and/or after care must be driven by a parent or guardian.

Bus transportation is not available in conjunction with this program.

Lunch & Snacks

Lunch is included in tuition. Campers have hot and cold lunch options available daily, as we strive to provide a balance between healthy and kid-friendly foods. We can accommodate almost any food allergy or dietary restriction by working closely with parents and ensuring that we have all pertinent camper information. All food served is peanut and tree nut safe.

Canteen is a long time camper favorite. Campers have the option to buy a snack from our Canteen Cart at the end of each day. Alternatively, parents are welcome to send in a snack for your camper to enjoy at the end of the day.

Ices or ice cream is served to all campers on Friday afternoons.
